Monday is a great day to try something new and start a habit!
Meditation is a great way to clear your mind and better your mental health its easy to do and can come in useful in stressful situations!
I started meditating about six months ago and as I have mentioned before it wasn't an instant thing- I had to start off by doing 3 minutes and then building it up gradually with the help of an app called 'Headspace' to 20 minutes and so on!
It can be done anywhere and in many forms - a lot of people now have apps that allow them to show their progression and be trained by someone privately instead of going to classes.
The key to getting started is do whatever is right for you- meditation shouldn't feel like a chore, yes at first I had to find motivation to actually take time out of my life to get into a routine but I started to enjoy it more after a few sessions on 'Headspace'.

I am starting this series of Meditation Monday's as meditation comes in may different forms not just sitting on a mat.

This week we are looking at turning your phone off for 20 minutes - sounds simple right? We are the generation that has been brought up using all sorts of technology 24/7 and our lives revolve/rely on technology so much that we use it for communication, information and constant updates about pretty much anything possible.
Sometimes we forget its nice to turn off our phones! I honest can't remember the last time I thought to switch it off... So I am guilty of this!
Last week I read online that if you turn off your phone for twenty minutes it allows the left side of your brain to relax, allowing new thoughts and ideas to come through... so in a way this is a form of meditation/mindfulness!
So my challenge this week is to turn of my phone for a minimum of 20 minutes twice this week! To allow a little bit of quiet into my life.
This will then allow me to sit down and do something else than scroll through facebook, even if it is looking at what I need to do this week or writing a shopping list!
So join me on this challenge and incorporate a little quiet time/meditation in your life this week!
Stay Harmonious
